ControlPlane 1.5.4 now available

ControlPlane 1.5.4 is now available with improved support for Yosemite (OS X 10.10). This update includes:

  • Fixes for time of day rules. They should now work overnight.
  • Fix for some shell script based rules
  • Icon now supports Yosemite’s dark interface mode
  • Default web browser action now works on Yosemite without asking for confirmation from the system. To achieve this ControlPlane must act as your system’s default web browser. It then hands the URL request off to the browser you have chosen. You will be prompted to update your system’s default browser if you create a new rule or the first time the action fires. To disable this simply visit the General section in System Preferences and chose a different default browser.

You can get the latest update by choosing Check for Updates from ControlPlanes menu or by clicking here.

Updated version coming soon

I’ve been getting some reports about issues with ControlPlane when run under Yosemite including issues with setting the default browser and support for the new dark interface theme. I’ve updated the code and am currently testing it locally with fixes for these two issues. I’ll release the update soon.

If you have found any issues running ControlPlane under Yosemite please report them at https://www.github.com/dustinrue/ControlPlane/issues

ControlPlane 1.5.3 now available!

I’ve made ControlPlane 1.5.3 available for everyone to use. There are numerous small bug fixes as well as a new evidence source and new actions. They are:

  • Mounted volume evidence source. Create rules based on what volumes are mounted on the system
  • Prevent system sleep action allows you to prevent the system from entering a sleep state while still allowing the display to sleep.
  • Connect bluetooth device action allows you to forcefully connect an in range bluetooth device.

If you already have ControlPlane installed simply select ‘Check for updates’ from ControlPlane’s main menu. You can also download ControlPlane 1.5.3 here.

ControlPlane 1.5.0 now available!

ControlPlane 1.5.0 introduces a often requested feature, negative rules. With negative rules you can have a rule match when the conditions are NOT met. This makes it very easy to create a rule to perform an action something is not present, like when your mouse is not connected or you are not on your home network.

ControlPlane 1.5.0 also introduces the concept of multiple active contexts as an advanced option. You will be asked if you’d like to enable it the first time ControlPlane is run.

The last big new feature to announce is the Active Context Evidence Source. This evidence source allows you to create rules and actions based on what other contexts are active.

ControlPlane makes your Mac context aware allowing you to perform tasks, start applications or change settings based on what you are doing or where you are located.  Download the latest version of ControlPlane or if you are already a ControlPlane user simply choose “Check for Updates…” from ControlPlane’s menu.

ControlPlane 1.4.0 Now Available

ControlPlane 1.4.0 is now available! Large portions of ControlPlane have been rewritten by VladimirTechMan to reduce annoyances and crashes.  This release of ControlPlane also includes a new evidence source that detects the position of your portable Mac’s lid.

ControlPlane makes your Mac context aware allowing you to perform tasks, start applications or change settings based on what you are doing or where you are located.  Download the latest version of ControlPlane or if you are already a ControlPlane user simply choose “Check for Updates…” from ControlPlane’s menu.

ControlPlane 1.4.0 beta build 50 now available

I’ve made available a new build of 1.4.0 beta. This build supports 10.7 through 10.8+. I’m most interested in hearing from people who are running 10.7 or greater than 10.8. There are a few notable things about this build:

  • VPN Action is missing, hopefully it can come back but some versions of OS X have don’t have support for it as it is currently coded.
  • You can only start the screensaver on demand, you cannot end it.
  • Window sizes should be remembered.
You can download the 1.4.0 beta at http://www.controlplaneapp.com/download/1.4.0-beta or if you are already running the beta by simply selecting Check for Updates from ControlPlane’s menu.

ControlPlane 1.4.0 beta available

I’m making a beta version of 1.4.0 available in order to get a larger number of people testing it.  This release has a lot of small updates that go along way towards making ControlPlane better than ever. Some of the changes include:

  • You can now see which rules are active
  • You can pick a custom icon color for each context
  • Improved IP Address evidence source that now understands IPv6!
  • Modernized code improving performance and memory consumption
  • Improved action set scheduling and execution
  • Many other code improvements

Some of the changes will most likely affect how you are used to ControlPlane operating.  Please report any undesired behavior to the Google group at http://groups.google.com/group/controlplane-support
