Is there a reason this application calls home when it launches? What is that for?

ControlPlane checks http://www.controlplaneapp.com/appcast.xml for new updates on startup using the Sparkle framework from http://sparkle.andymatuschak.org/. This is configurable in ControlPlane’s preferences in the general section.
Even if you uncheck this option, I believe CP will continue to periodically check for updates. I’m not sure because it’s all a carry over from the original MarcoPolo project, I haven’t reviewed the code in some time.

Just a heads-up: With 1.0.9 the automatic update does not work for me. I already tried restarting ControlPlane, but it still says 1.0.9 is the most recent version.
